Budget Brakes Advanced Driving Guide: Driving During an Earthquake

Many parts of the country are prone to serious and frequent earthquakes, and Budget Brakes is committed to keeping customers safe wherever they travel. Earthquakes often hit without any warning. If you find yourself in an earthquake while driving, follow these safety tips from Budget Brakes.

•Drive to a clear area away from underpasses, buildings, power lines, and trees. Park your car, preferably away from heavy traffic. Expect other cars to be slowing down and parking as well.

•Stay in your car. Turn on the radio and listen to emergency broadcasts from authorities.

•Once the shaking has stopped, you can drive again, but avoid bridges and ramps if possible. Do not drive over downed power lines.

Budget Brakes wants to remind everyone that earthquakes are dangerous even after they have ended. Be sure to watch for cracks or obstructions in the road that were caused by the earthquake.
